About Talks with Eve

Hello there, I am delighted and excited that you are here.  Welcome to my blog.  Talks with Eve is a dedicated space, for a woman to share her thoughts, and lessons learned, with other women.  It is my hope, that in sharing, we will inform, inspire, support, empower, and strengthen each other.  I totally embrace that little pearl of wisdom – PAY IT FORWARD – in all its form!

Who Am I?

My full name is actually Judith Eve Dixon. I, however, prefer to be called Eve (I will tell you more about that in another post).  Originally from Saint Andrew, Jamaica, I came to the United States as a young adult, via New York, District of Columbia, and Maryland.  I now live in the beautiful Palmetto State, South Carolina.

Why This Blog?

The creation of this blog was based simply on the fact that I think…a LOT.  Thinking a lot of thoughts is overwhelming at times.

I am not able to share all these thoughts with another woman, as it is difficult.  Unable to trust all my thoughts with another woman is something I find quite sad.  Why?  It scares me…and it shouldn’t!

The thought of sharing my deep, and most sensitive thoughts with another woman, scares me just to even think about it!  Yet alone to actually doing it!  How do you feel about it?  Can you do it?  Can you trust another woman with your deep and most sensitive thoughts?

Trusting another woman requires developing a trusting bond.  This will take years of careful cultivation.  A trusting bond comes without guarantee.  However, that bond should go both ways, and not be merely one-sided.  Trust does not come easily for me.  I have instead, been writing my thoughts in a journal.

I journal at the end of the day.  Every single day, just before bed…or try to anyway.  When I do not journal I have noticed that I cannot turn off my thoughts.  Subsequently, it makes it difficult fo fall asleep.  Counting sheep (who came up with that crazy idea), does not help!

A Slow Development – How the Idea Developed and Simmered

In college (I am a recent graduate), I interviewed a dozen women for my research study for my dissertation.  The indirect information I gathered from them was priceless!  Listening to their responses, created a buzz in my head that would not cease.  The buzz joined the other thoughts already swirling around in my head.  I recognized that despite our individual uniqueness, we had a LOT of similarities; we struggled with pretty much the same things.

Holding on to my thoughts was something I decided to forget about, to stop doing that.  A forum for women is the reason for starting the blog.  My desire was for you also to forget about holding on to your thoughts, and share them.  I believe that having even one conversation, could be enough to make a difference for, and in, you.  One conversation could ignite a spark, or bring about a change, in educating, encouraging, empowering, and uplifting each other.

Goals (My Hopes)

I find women most interesting. I am fascinated by our complexities and uniqueness. Truthfully, I am smitten. I love to share, to give to you, another woman, the boost you need, so you too can find your empowerment and strength.

You should know that it is absolutely okay if you want to keep some thoughts to yourself…even for a lifetime. It is also okay if you want to keep thoughts of your hopes and dreams to yourself to avoid being derailed by others’ suggestions (advice/criticism) and self-doubt.

My hope, however, is that you will join me in freely sharing your thoughts.  Exchange comments with each other. Together, we can encourage and support each other, in finding our individual empowerment and strength.

Here…take my hand…cometake my hand along with me. Let us sit for a moment, and talk…begin our journey…grow strong…together.
