Personal growth means you have to be willing to take risks. It cannot be denied that stepping outside your very comfortable and safe existence can be hard – and scary! Your life experiences will be the best indicators of the path you have chosen to travel.

The path you choose

Is the path you choose your own choice? Or are you being moved along your path based on others’ choices for you? An even better question is – have you ever given thought to the path for your life?

Don’t feel pressured to choose. There is really no right or wrong path per se. It has more to do with whether your chosen path leads to the life you have envisioned – or to something else. Switching paths is not usually only a one-time thing either. You can switch as many times as needed.

In my own life, I don’t feel the desire to choose, and that works well for me. I actually choose NOT to choose a path. Instead, I view the path as it comes, not as an obstacle but as an opportunity for growth. It is both amazing and exciting to learn new things (and skills) through unexpected experiences.

This lack of real structure may be stressful for example, for someone who thrives on being organized. Someone who designs their life and success by way of goals and achievements. However, we are each a unique individual – there is no one else like us.

Therefore your journey to, and on, your path is unique – to YOU.

You, and only you, are in charge of making those choices. No one else.

A point to note well is that you should be able to recognize when you need to get off your current path. Therefore, knowing when something is not working out is very important. Stress, feelings of dissatisfaction, or feeling lost, could be signs that you need to get off your current path.

When you get comfortable, when things become predictable, that means your life is on an even keel. Don’t feel like there is anything wrong with the acceptance of even keel. Your happiness with, and your acceptance, of your path, is entirely your decision.

However, by choosing to not do anything different, you may also be choosing to not live your life to its full potential. What is your purpose in life? That is a question explored by many who feel there must be much more to life. Some seek to find the answer. Others naturally discover theirs. Still, there are others who enjoy their life as is – they have found what is their meaning of living life.

As you go through your daily life, do you feel as if you are living your purpose and your true meaning of life? If your answer is in the affirmative, you’ve found what you’re supposed to do with your life. Many, however, are restless and have questions about their lives.

Questioning life means you are curious. I am a firm believer in always being curious. There are many things to learn about and I am here for it. In my opinion, you should never stop being curious.

There is nothing wrong with questioning your existence. After all, you only have one life. Why would you not want to seek and eke out all that you can? However, don’t just talk about things to do and never do them.

Take action even when there is something that you find hard to do – especially when it takes you out of your comfort zone. In taking action, you are facing your fear and taking a risk.

Be willing to take risks

You must be willing to take risks as it’s only in doing so that you will gain confidence. The more you accomplish from the risks you take, the greater your sense of confidence.

Taking risks requires you to face your fears. That too takes courage. No matter the outcome though, there is growth in the process. As your confidence builds, you will find yourself more willing, even eager, to take risks.

Also, the more risks you take, the better your chances are to improve your future. Don’t get me wrong, you already know that the outcome for every risk can be success or failure.

However, confidence is not lost when you fail. Actually, confidence continues to build in spite of your failure. That’s because the source of your confidence is the fact that you confronted your fear by taking a risk. There is no success without failure – sometimes many failures.

Let’s talk

The key to success is taking risks. Successful people did not gain success overnight. They became successful after taking many risks. For example, the well-known author Stephen King, submitted his first novel Carrie  30 times and was rejected all 30 times. He threw out the manuscript.

However, encouraged by his wife, he submitted it for the 31st time.

Can you imagine never reading that book, or seeing such an amazing movie? Although I know the ending, I have watched the movie many times over.

So be brave. Be willing. Seek a full life. Take risks. You will find your life will be greatly improved.

Let’s talk!
